Northwest 30 B742, EKCH to ESSA

Northwest 30 from Copenhagen to Stockholm Arlanda. Another historic schedule, this time from Winter 1985. A very fun flight in the old classic 747-200! It was a long times since I flew it, so I didn't go online on Vatsim.

The Felix 747-200 is a very good and fun plane for X-plane. I like it a lot but I haven't used it as much as I should have.

As this is an older plane it doesn't have an FMC. It does have Civa INS which you can use for longer flights, but since this was a very short flight I only used conventional VOR to VOR navigation. I did however startup and initialized the three Civas, they're useful to see i.e. groundspeed and wind directions.

My flightplan was

KAS DCT VSN DCT NILUG

After I departed RWY 22R I climbed straight for a while, then I vectored myself back to the straight line between KAS and VSN, course 026.

When I reached Vor VSN I changed course to 059 degrees. NILUG is located 75 nm from VSN in direction 059.

And also, 25 nm from VSN I reached T/D where it was time to start descend towards Arlanda.

Emirates 9909 B744, EHAM to ESGG

Emirates 9909, Sky Cargo, from Amsterdam to Gothenburg. A flight from the historic schedule Winter 2012. A nice and fun flight in the PMDG 747-400, just to break off from my latest flight in the B748.

It was pretty busy at Amsterdam, but at the cargo apron (R) I was alone. I had to queue a bit before taking off, but that's only fun.

ATC all the way on Vatsim, with both Approach and Tower online at ESGG. Super fun!

Route idea - Harare in and out

With the new free airport in Harare there's a couple of interesting routes to fly.

MPH8371, B744, EHAM-HKJK, 7,5 hours, 3.600 nm.
This is a really long flight for me, might probably take a while before I do this, if ever. But it's interesting as a starter point for the Africa route. I have scenery for both airports in P3D, so that's a good starting point at least.

MPH8371, B744, HKJK-FAOR, 3,5 hours, 1.566 nm
This is more for me, even though 3,5 hours counts as a long haul for me it's something I can se myself doing. For this one I need to get a scenery for Johannesburg for P3D, I have looked at Gaffer's scenery on Simmarket, it's on sale now for €14 (incl. 25% Swedish VAT).
There's a lot of nice B744-routes out of FAOR at my VA Virtual Cargo, to i.e. HKJK, HAAB and HECA.

MPH8372, B744, FAOR-FVRG, 1:15h, 516 nm
This is something for me! I love flights around 1-2 hours. I just need to get the scenery for FAOR first.

MPH8372, B744, FVRG-HKJK 2,5h, 1.050 nm
This is also a really good one for me! Perfect flight length, and I already have scenery for both airports. This might actually be the first one to do for me, out of these ideas. Available at my VA Virtual Cargo.

All flights are scheduled flights for Martin Air (MPH), but as they're the same company as KLM the livery of these flights was KLM Cargo - which I actually think is nicer.

And there's of course also a flight back to Amsterdam from Nairobi.

At Virtual Cargo there's also a return flight from FVHA(FVRG) to EHAM as MPH6031, about 10h and 4.440 nm...

Free payware airport from Simmarket for P3D - Harare, Zimbabwe

The payware airport from FSCGAA is free for a couple of days! Go to Simmarket and get your copy if you, like me, want to fly more in Africa in P3D!

This airport has nice B747-routes to and from Johannesburg (FAOR), Nairobi (HKJK) and Addis Ababa (HAAB). There's also long haul routes to Amsterdam (EHAM).

The airport recently changed it's ICAO code from FVRG to FVHA, and this scenery still uses the old one, but that shouldn't be any problem.

UPDATE

I've installed the free scenery now, and it's looking okay at a first glance. I can say that I'm happy that I didn't pay for this scenery, but I cannot complain on a free scenery so I'm happy! This opens up a couple of new African routes for me.

A couple of pics from my test load:

Cathay Pacific B748, EDDF to ESSA

Cathay Pacific CPA62, from Frankfurt to Stockholm Arlanda. A historic flight from the winter schedule of 2010.

This was a very fun flight, online on Vatsim and ATC all the way. At Arlanda RWY26 was the actual landing runway, but due to heavy cargo (performance) I asked for landing at RWY19R instead, and Sweden Control coordinated it with Stockholm Approach and I got vectors to 19R instead. Very enjoying! Initially I had planned to land at RWY26, but during the flight I used the EFB to calculate landing performance and saw that 19R would be preferred.

As always it was rather busy at EDDF with a lot of traffic.

Cathay Pacific B748, EDDF to LIMC

Cathay Pacific CPA1805, from Frankfurt to Milano Malpensa - a nice evening flight.

It was my first B748-flight for a while, so I wasn't online on Vatsim. I needed to practice a bit first. Everything went well, so the next flight will be online.
